Performer’s Edge Competition Team Agreement

The Performer’s Edge Competition Team – Schedule begins Saturday August 15
1. Team is optional and requires additional rehearsals and fees. Members must be enrolled in our “company technique classes”.
2. Team provides more aggressive training and rehearsals. Students must maintain excellent attendance in their technique classes.
3. Dance competitions turn the art of performing into a sport and the choreographers into coaches.
4. Students must realize the difference between the intense world of “competition” and our other opportunities provided at PE.

Commitment to the Team
1. A strong commitment to the team is vital in the process of preparing for competitions.
2. Students must be available for the weekly rehearsals.

Auditions – Aug. 29 – 10:00-12:00 Team Clinics – Saturday Aug. 15 & 22 – 10:00-12:00
1. Auditions occur year round including our May and August auditions and during weekly class.
2. Students are assigned to group routines based on age & ability. Routines will be assigned by September 8
3. Team members are required to participate in Team Jazz, Production Routine and Team Conditioning.
4. You will fill out an audition form and may request additional routines. Note: We may not be able to honor all of your request.

Regional Competitions and Conventions
1. 2-5 Required Regional competitions and conventions will be required and are usually attended in Indianapolis.
2. You agree to the “Competition” & “Convention” schedule provided. Subject to change

Nationals or Out-of-Town Regional Competitions
1. All groups should be prepared to participate in an “Out of Town” or “National Competition” as decided by the director
2. All team members will be required to split the choreographer’s expenses incurred by these events.
3. Students must have an adult chaperone - Performer’s Edge will not be responsible for their supervision.

Group Routines (4 or more performers)
1. Students will meet weekly during Team/Jazz technique class.
2. Team members must participate in the Production Routine and the conditioning class with additional fees.
3. Rehearsals could include choreography, technique & conditioning segments.
4. The choreographers will post a schedule for specific rehearsal times.
5. Students that are involved in more than the 2 required routines will have additional fees and rehearsals.

Specialty Routines
1. Specialty routines include solos, duets and trios.
2. These routines require a weekly private lesson, per each routine, with a Performer’s Edge faculty member.
3. Priority will be given to the most advanced students in their age group.
4. Parents of these students are responsible for securing their child’s costume, supervision and management at the competition sites.
5. Students in our current Team program may start “Specialty Routines” over the summer.

Rehearsals
1. Rehearsals are listed as “Team” on our schedule and you will be assigned to a weekly rehearsal time
2. Fees are not affected if there is a 3 week month or 5 week month.
3. Additional rehearsals may be required and will be scheduled as soon as possible.
4. Rehearsals are closed to parents and visitors unless there is a “Preview Performance” scheduled.

Costumes
1. Costumes for group routines will run $95.00 to $250.00 per costume.
2. Costumes are selected by the choreographers and ordered through the studio.
3. Alterations for group costumes will be done through the studio for consistency & there are additional fees.
4. Costumes for “Specialty Routines” must be secured by the parents through outside sources or ordered through the studio by Oct. 20

Props and Sets
1. Props & sets may be required and the cost will be divided among the performers in that group. (including folding chairs)
2. Choreographers are required to coordinate construction and transportation of sets and props.
3. Parents and students will be asked to help with construction and transportation.

Outside Choreographers
1. Outside choreographers may be hired to enhance our students training and provide more variety in our choreography.
2. Due to the extra fees involved you will have the option to participate if you are selected for any of those routines.


A Fee List
1. A complete list of possible expenses will be available at the front desk.
2. Required: Technique Class/Team Jazz - Production Routine – Weekly Conditioning
3. Additional fees could include: * Administrative Fees, Entry Fees for regional and national competitions * Additional group routines * Music production & Cd’s * Dance conventions * Travel and Hotel expenses * Teachers fees & expenses for competitions * Costumes, props, accessories, rhinestones and alterations * Selected shoes, tights and under garments * Selected make-up and performance supplies * Outside choreographers * Specialty routines * Recital Fee

Cash Awards and Trophies
1. Trophies that are presented at Regional competitions and Nationals are the property of Performer’s Edge, Inc.
2. Group cash awards will be paid to Performer’s Edge and applied to administrative expenses, studio rental, etc.
3. Solos, Duets and Trios will divide their awards among themselves.

Hip Hop Team
1. The Hip Hop Team is a “Recreational Program” and students in our “Company Technique Class” program would not be eligible.
2. The Hip Hop Team program information can be found at the front desk.

Make an appointment
1. If you would like to speak with the studio director or the team supervisor please make an appointment with the front desk.
2. Please do not approach faculty members or choreographers in the lobby before, between or after classes and rehearsals.

Recital 2010 – June 17, 18 & 19
1. All group jazz routines must be available to participate in the PE Recital if asked to perform.
2. All team members will be required to submit the “Recital Fee”.

High School Students
1. High school students that meet the technique class requirement may perform in solo, duets and trios only.
2. Each specialty routine must have a separate private lesson
3. High School students may apply to substitute technique classes for school related dance activities.
4. Conditioning class is available to these students for an additional fee.

Teen and Senior Team members may switch a Ballet Class for a Contemporary Class

Additional Group Routines $15.00 Per Routines Minimum of 4 Students required

Specialty Routines Per Half Hour Per routine & student Solos $26.00 Duets $16.00 Trios $12.00

Saturday Rehearsals 9:00-3:00 Specific times to be announced

We have read the Competition Team Agreement and the current Fee List of the team expenses. We understand the extra demands of Team and we agree to participate. We agree to compete and perform exclusively with Performer’s Edge and attend the local Regional Competitions, Out of Town Regional and/or National Competition if the staff decides to participate in these events.
